Personal Experience on Authorship

This was not a personal experience but a shared experience "back in the days".

"Ghost authorships" were rampant in an institution where some trainees were asked to write papers for more senior members of the faculty in the disguise of being "academic writers" while authorship during paper submission and publications are primarily given to the more seasoned faculty members. This practice has long been abandoned already but was surprisingly done in the past on an academic institution.

My colleague was initially pressured to include a consultant in their research. I am glad that another consultant author of the research who was the most senior and contributed significantly to the work went over multiple guidelines on authorship with my colleague. Upon consulting these guidelines, they determined not to include the consultant who did not contribute to the research.
