During one of our group projects, I witnessed some classmates using ChatGPT to generate draft or preliminary content for their research. They used the tool to help structure their ideas and provide initial content, but always treated it as a starting point rather than final material. It was clear that they understood the need to refine and add their own contributions afterward.
The use of ChatGPT, along with other AI tools, was reported and handled through the introduction of a declaration system where students had to acknowledge if AI tools were used in the creation of their work. This was done to ensure transparency and to maintain academic integrity.
As a result, we now have access to various tools to verify the originality and credibility of our work. These tools help us ensure that the content submitted is our own and hasn't been plagiarized or generated entirely by AI. This process has made the work more credible and has fostered a deeper understanding of how to appropriately incorporate AI in research without compromising academic standards.
