While we are not necessarily creating an art piece, it is still important to emphasize that design and composition matter when preparing instructional materials.

To be familiar with the basic principles of design and composition, please follow the links to useful design tools.

Please visit the sites and do the following:

      1. Read the materials in the link provided.
      2. Select an instructional material you have used before. The material could be a handout, a PowerPoint presentation, a poster (that you may have used in research poster presentation, etc), pictures, and even movies.
      3. Please do not do any improvement on the material. Bring it with you in its original format.
      4. Using the principles on design and composition that you learned from your online readings, can you now critique your materials.

      For our PowerPoint enhancement:

I just discovered a simple but powerful add-in developed by the National University of Singapore and it is free.  Here is the link: https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~pptlabs/
