What was your takeaway from the video?
My main takeaway from the video is that effective clinical education hinges on two critical elements: interprofessional collaboration and constructive, timely feedback. It emphasized the importance of creating a psychologically safe learning environment where students feel encouraged to engage, make mistakes, and learn without fear. Feedback should not only be specific and actionable but also part of a continuous process that nurtures both competence and confidence in learners.

What challenges did you encounter when giving feedback to other people?
One significant challenge is managing the emotional sensitivity of learners, especially in an age where many students may perceive feedback as criticism rather than support. Another is the difficulty of delivering feedback in a way that is both specific and balanced—ensuring it's neither too vague nor too harsh. There’s also the added challenge of cultural differences and maintaining fairness across all feedback situations.

How did you overcome these challenges?
To overcome these difficulties, I ensure that feedback is delivered in a private, supportive setting and framed constructively. I use empathetic language, focus on behaviors rather than personal traits, and balance critique with positive reinforcement. Building trust and setting clear expectations from the start also help students understand that feedback is a tool for growth. Encouraging open dialogue and practicing active listening further ensures that the feedback process is collaborative and meaningful.
