During my college days, I already appreciated maternal and child health nursing. It started when I had this clinical instructor who didn’t want us to write down anything. What she wanted us to do was to listen to her, look at her, or look at our books.  Every time after her lectures, she has this long quiz, and if you get the lowest score among the class at the next meeting, you’ll report first before she has her lectures. Therefore, I have to review, memorize, and study before class.

That love from the maternal and child was cultivated when I was assigned to the operating room and delivery room and became a charge nurse in that area. I was taught by my midwife how to handle delivery, perform episiotomy and episiorrhaphy, monitor labor, handle difficult delivery, and maneuver for dystocia, and I can say some of which I haven’t read before in the book, and I started loving maternal and child, not just being appraised by knowledge during students and honed skills during my career, but on the deep sides of motherhood.

Imagine the hardship of the mother from fertilization to raising her kids into responsible human beings. Imagine the sacrifice of the mother, and the highlight of the hardship is the moment she endures the labor pain to the process of delivery, where some of the mothers can’t survive the complication. Enduring this challenge necessitates considerable fortitude and tenacity, not only during the moment of childbirth but during the entire experience of motherhood. Every sleepless night and hardship encountered exemplifies her steadfast love and dedication to raising her children.

I choose MCN as my field for this study because I want to impart my learnings and experiences to the students who are contemplating choosing this field. Being in this field is fulfilling and life-changing for me, as it allows me to be by the side of a mother, coaching and helping her until she becomes a full-fledged mother. How fulfilling is that? Seeing such profound changes in people's lives is immensely fulfilling. By sharing my knowledge and experience, I hope to encourage the upcoming generation of professionals to pursue this career path with zeal and commitment.
