Will testing be useful in assessing my unit outcomes? After a short reflection my answer is no. Clinical skills as well as the affective domain require appropriate assessment tools such as observation, formative feedback, case based discussion, reflection paper, etc. Testing will take time and resources better used in other assessment methods that can help the learner integrate all the knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in the earlier, formative years.
Testing need not be done for assessment. And yes, there are other ways of assessing clinical skills.
