Will testing be useful is assessing my unit outcomes?

Aren't all outcomes supposed to be tested? But of course!

But come to think of it, how about attitudes? Can they be tested much less be assessed to be right or wrong?

Assessed yes, tested, not all. Same with attitudes, assessed yes, but tested no

I think our mindset is to make sure our learners learn what they are supposed to learn, so we test them to get the evidence. But if we periodically assess and document their progress during training, that is good enough evidence to forego testing, and that includes the KSA domains.

Agree. Although a lot of factors come into play during testing, haven't we all ever had a trainee do so well in the formative assessment but just fall apart during the summative?

There is this perspective that specialization makes one less adaptable. In my opinion it can lead to a narrow but deep skillset.

Remember that testing is just one form of assessment. There are outcomes that can be evaluated through other means besides testing.
