In my opinion, no single type of assessment can be deemed universally “most valuable” to students as each fulfills a different and complementary purpose. The most effective educational programs often integrate all three types of assessment to support learning, measure achievement, and ensure that students are prepared for the responsibilities they will face in their professional roles. The value can also be subjective, depending on whether the perspective taken is that of the student, educator, or the healthcare system at large. For students, the value might lie in Assessment FOR and AS learning, which directly inform and enhance their learning process. However, from a professional standpoint, assessment OF learning is indispensable for ensuring competence and providing the credentials necessary for career progression.
