Among all the concepts covered in the Lymphatic System, I believe the topic of Autoimmune Diseases necessitates the most attention in our daily lives. These disorders occur when the body's immune system fails to tolerate itself and instead assaults the individual's own tissues. T cells that help regulate the immune system are known as regulatory T cells. When autoimmune illnesses strike, these regulatory T cells stop functioning, causing damage to a variety of organs and tissues.

Despite the prevalence of almost 80 types of autoimmune diseases, long-term treatments are still lacking, and individuals with the disease must rely on targeted treatments to alleviate and prevent symptoms. Understanding how autoimmune diseases develop poses a challenge for student nurses like us because we are aware of our country's distinct cultural beliefs and practices toward health and illness. As such, we can begin by informing our families and loved ones about the risk factors for autoimmune illnesses in our own easy ways to encourage them to dispel myths, reduce stigma, and modify our lifestyles for our own well-being. It is also our responsibility to contribute to health education initiatives that will reach a wider audience and promote knowledge of autoimmune illnesses, their symptoms, and the necessity of early diagnosis and treatment. As student nurses, we must remember to care for our own health in order to provide the same (or even better) care to our eventual clients in the healthcare industry. Being aware of health practices and understanding their potential impact on the management of autoimmune disorders allows us to deliver patient-centered care that respects varied healthcare beliefs and practices.
