I think I am a mentor, whether or not it is formally stated or not. In our clinical setting, mentorship is not a formal program, as we only get to interact with interns for 2 months (at the most). But from my experience as a clinical instructor for 10 years, there are interns who would still communicate with us, even after their rotation, or even after graduation. They would consult us with regards to management during patient care even after they are professionals themselves. I would cannot say that I am a good mentor, but I think I can improve this by opening my communication lines with my previously handled interns, and initiate conversations with them on how they are doing with the course of our profession, regardless if they are still undergoing internship, or practicing the profession already.
