Full disclosure, I have been at a loss initially when mentoring has been introduced in the training of our residents. I didn't quite know what good mentoring entails. In my mind, for sure there is mentoring already being applied in our training program but the ways on which to do mentoring and how to be a good mentor, I seem to know little, let alone as a teaching and learning strategy. Basing on the materials provided on the qualities of a good mentor, I can honestly say that there are several qualities that I still need to develop to become a more effective mentor.
