1. What major challenge do you think you will encounter in applying what you have learned from anatomy?

I think the major challenge that I’ll encounter in applying my learnings in this course it handling and managing information overload. I have actually already learned about the different organ systems of the body in senior high school. However, before, the discussions were distributed in 2-academic year period, so I was able to pace myself in terms of absorbing and digesting every bit of information about each system. This is probably the reason why I found it initially difficult to efficiently learn in this course because all the topics are jam-packed into a shorter time frame, and since we are already in college, more is expected from us in terms of having to learn in a quicker pace. Moreover, the mode of learning, where we are holding classes fully online, limited my ability to visualize and comprehend the concepts and terms I was learning about. As a visual learner, experiencing laboratory sessions and practical examinations where we deal with human models would have helped me to master this course more effectively.

2. What are your plans to overcome this challenge?

As of present where the mode of learning is not really within my control, the most I can do to alleviate these problems is to take initiative into doing further research for materials, especially looking for diagrams and models that would help me visualize our discussions in-depth. Likewise, I have to better my time management and study habits in order to evenly spread out my time for studying, ensuring that I not only memorize terms but also fully grasp their implications to the different vital life processes of the body. It is also my responsibility to uplift my motivation to learn altogether despite the restrictions set forth by the pandemic, reminding myself of the importance of anatomy and physiology being a core and foundation of my progress in more complex nursing subjects.
