Choose one concept in our lesson today, give a brief explanation about the concept and cite how this learning can be applied in your daily life.
For as long as I remember, my mom often tells me to stop sweating too much. As we go out together often, she complains about how my sweat glands are too active, making me sick and often prompting her to buy me a new change of clothes after a long walking session. I don't quite understand why my sweat glands act up, but I loathe the idea of sweating a lot despite being in a fully air-conditioned room.
I've learned a lot about the integumentary system today and I am now thankful for my overly active sweat glands. The topic that piqued my interest is the concept of thermoregulation. It was mentioned that the sympathetic nervous system is fond of working well with the integumentary system, helping us stay safe whenever there's a sudden shift in temperature. This division of the nervous system continuously monitors body temperature and responds with the appropriate action. With that in mind, I would like to ease the blame on my sweat glands and thank the system-duo that safely gets me through every day.
I think I'll continue to keep the water supply high so that my system would have enough to help me get through. I mean, both my integumentary and sympathetic nervous systems are preventing me from dying due to heat exhaustion, so the least I can do is provide them with the essentials. From now on, I have enough bodily system lore that I can share with my mom while she gets annoyed due to my often sweating. Maybe take her mind off of the thought of choosing yet another shirt design I would change into after arriving at a nearby mall.
