I agree with you, Ma'am Czarlyn, learners nowadays are sensitive to feedback, and will always have a rationale for every point that we share or provide them in the form of constructive criticism. Sometimes, I think this type of behaviour is related to the level of competition amongst learners who are trying to be better than the other person, is more gratifying than having an open mind and trying to absorb the comments to provide or arm them in their future endeavors to become a better version of themselves (it's a question that we could have asked ourselves during our younger years)
Promoting a safe environment can be tricky most of the times, some may consider it as "sugar-coating", but anyway that is how man is unique as a being created by God, from times we falter and feel pain, the more we learn lessons in life and further improve or avoid getting hurt.
