There are a lot of concerns about clinical teaching that need to be addressed by a clinical instructor. The most common is ensuring patient safety. Nursing students must learn how to handle patients and provide nursing interventions. It is important that the nursing instructors are equipped with the necessary knowledge, experience, and competencies in teaching the nursing students in the clinical area. Balancing learning and ensuring the safety and welfare of the patient is the very goal of clinical teaching. Nursing intervention mistakes, breaches of infection control, inappropriate behavior, inappropriate procedures, or even medication errors can happen during the clinical duties of the students. The role of the nursing instructor is crucial in guiding the students in providing care in the clinical area - from hospital regulations and protocols to assessing patient conditions, performing interventions correctly, and communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
