During my undergraduate years, I did not personally encounter any issues related to authorship within my research group. However, I have heard rumors about a professor allegedly taking credit for their students' work without providing any guidance or assistance in conceptualizing or executing the research project. To date, I am unaware of any legal actions or formal investigations to confirm or refute these claims. This situation highlights how power imbalances in authorship, particularly within institutions that cultivate a culture of "publish or perish" can undermine the principles of scientific integrity that the university and research community are meant to uphold.
