I was involved as one of the co-investigators in the initial registrations for a study. I attended meetings on how to approach local data collection and analyses, as the study was multinational, but eventually found myself out of the loop. I initially thought the study wouldn’t proceed due to competing priorities. However, it was eventually published by some of the members. I do not want to take any credit for the publication, as my contribution was minimal to none due to my disengagement but I believe there should have been a discussion among the study group before removing any members from the team.
I appreciate that the video also discussed about writing Acknowledgements in our publications if contribution for authorship is not substantial. This will give credit and due appreciation to those who put in the work on initiatives being reported in publications, but may not be within the bounds of authorship.
