For my set of learners, I think AFL is the most valuable among the three. They are adult learners who are expected to be actively involved in their learning process, but maybe not yet able to accomplish the unbiased and effective self-evaluation needed in AAL. Because we are training them to refine their clinical skills and gain a deeper understanding of a specific set of diseases (from GP to specialist level), constant feedback is very important to curb mistakes early and reinforce good practices.

The value I think lies on the the type of student, undergraduate vs graduate or even adult vs non-adult.

I agree. Assessment for learning can enhance their clinical skills and clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
