As a student, the most useful feedback I got was for the minor procedures I performed as a third year surgical elective student that I got from the senior service resident. The feedback were useful in that it made me love my future career path even more. I was able to refine my skills more and was encouraged to focus on the basic surgical principles. The same feedback also allowed me to become more creative in my technique by also utilizing the same surgical principles. The least helpful were the final exam feedback that took too long to finish (100 items). These feedback whether good or bad helped me track my progress as a student as well as document my achievements during the entire learning process.
Learning surgery from a teacher who is patient is really very motivating.
