Jet, Carlos, and I discussed last week our priority list of competencies that learners should acquire at the end of a health science program. This is our list of competencies.

1) Patient-centered care

Qualities of future health professionals (HP) under this competency include being clinically competent, good communication, and interpersonal skills.

2) Ethical

Qualities of future HP under this competency include being compassionate and empathetic, demonstrating ethical practice as well as respect for patient autonomy.

3) Culturally competent towards people of different religions, gender, and people with disability.

4) Interprofessionalism - the ability to work in teams, provide and show leadership qualities as a doctor, and being collegial towards members of the team and other HP.

Thanks for sharing this. You'll notice that these competencies are not very different from those that your own programs also intend to develop in students.
