Hi Prof and Classmates!
For my Personal background. I am Marilyn Cerbito, married and have 2 kids. You can also call me “Malen” by the way. I am on my first year, first semester here at the University of the Philippines taking up Master of Arts in Nursing major in Nursing Administration for my career development. It’s been 12 years since I attended school so I am somehow overwhelmed and intimidated at the same time with the current trends on higher learning and my heavy workload from my responsibilities at work. Despite of these challenges immersed I am very fortunate for this opportunity and I invoke my faith to God for this milestone that I really wanted to accomplished.
As to my professional Background, I have been working in the Primary Care setting under the City Government of Makati ever since I passed the board exam for Nurses. Our facility is the first and the only facility among the Health Centers in Makati operational for 24 hours, 7days a day with 3 shifts that accommodates urgent and outpatient services, animal bite treatment, with minor surgery, laboratory and pharmacy service and the DOH programs offered to the community at a primary care level. This has honed my expertise and competency not only in the Community Health Nursing setting, urgent and emergency cases, but also my leadership skills as I was appointed as the Head Nurse.
I am also very thankful to Prof Irma, because if not for her initiative to text me I wouldn’t be able to enroll and might lose this chance. The almighty might have been also use Prof Irma as an instrument to guide all of us here with her wisdom and knowledge that we can use in our specializations and as future leaders. Maybe this has been the peculiar side in me that I always conclude or see things, the ways and enlightenment of the Lord through my experiences from others. Thank you so much po Prof Irma.
And to you my classmates, I fervently hope for a fun-learning experience. Nice meeting you all and the pleasure is mine for being part of this class.
