As part of the training programs and as an educator, I consider myself as a mentor as I provide guidance and direction to my students and trainees. I engage them in conversations and interactions where they can be free to speak out their minds and open up about the challenges and difficulties they face. In some instances, they seek for my advice on difficult decisions and career path they are to make or take. Overall, I consider myself as a mentor, may not be the structured, formal mentoring program but I mentor and guide with every chance I can, in any way possible.

As teachers, I think mentoring is innate or built-in within us. We just have to activate and use this function more often. And having a structured mentoring program will truly harness our skills and competencies in mentoring.
