Am I a Mentor?

Passing a subject in medicine requires diligence and perseverance to study. As a mentor, I give encouragement and advice to my students and give them feedback for improvement when an activity is given. I too was once a student who was away from my comfort zone and home thus sharing my experience with them will motivate and inspire them to pursue their medical degree with passion.

True doc Weng. We motivate and encourage our students and at times serve as a role model by sharing our experiences.

Relatability is very "in" nowadays with the new generation of learners. They listen and trust more if they know that their mentor has also experienced and successfully overcame the same situation as they are now.

Hi Weng. Sharing your personal experiences and stories of overcoming challenges surely motivated your mentees and students who may be struggling to adjust to the demands of medical school. Providing them with a supportive environment and a formative feedback definitely encourages them to persevere more.
