I can say that I am not that bad of a clinical teacher. I bring along with me enough years (17-18 years of being a neurologist/psychiatrist) of experience and genuine intention to be of service to patients. I also espouse a democratic learning environment where I allow my students to express themselves, commit mistakes, explore things, and learn from their own experience. I make it a point that they stay curious and continue to yearn for more learning.
I still need to grow more in my practice, learn more from every patient (and from my students), hone my craft to expertise and mastery. I always remind myself to be less critical of students because at times I tend to expect a lot from them. I should always be mindful of what they should know at their level.
