It is important to conduct analysis of competencies because this will identify specific knowledge and skills which are lacking or need improvement. This will serve as a guide in curriculum development which will enable students to successfully perform specific functions in the educational setting in the future.
Stakeholders analysis is also important because it can be used to generate knowledge about the relevant actors’ (students, faculty, medical education unit, and others) interests, perspectives, intentions, agendas and influences that would have a bearing on the decision-making processes. This information can then be used to develop strategies for managing these stakeholders, to facilitate the implementation of specific decisions or organizational objectives and assess the feasibility of the curriculum.
