Choose one concept in our lesson today, give a brief explanation about the concept and cite how would you apply this learning in your everyday life.

One concept that comes to mind is lymphatic organs and tissues, specifically lymphatic nodules. These are small, solitary, egg-shaped masses of lymphatic tissue not surrounded by a capsule and occur in huge groups, particularly in our tonsils in the pharyngeal region. The tonsils are strategically positioned to participate in immune responses, but we can sometimes get tonsillitis.

Tonsillitis is an infection or inflammation (a defensive response to tissue damage) of the tonsils. A virus usually causes it, but it can also be caused by the same bacteria responsible for strep throat. Because tonsillitis is one of the symptoms of COVID-19-positive patients, the majority of people (including myself) have been frequently alerted when they experience a sore throat, which is also the primary symptom of tonsillitis. Tonsillitis of viral origin, on the other hand, usually resolves on its own because our tonsils contain a large number of white blood cells that are responsible for killing germs. Knowing these concepts helps us understand that there is no need to panic because the infection lasts only a few days. Treatment for this infection is simple and prevents complications by taking prescribed antibiotics, resting in bed until the fever has subsided, isolating yourself to protect others from the condition (avoid drinking with the same glass), and gargling with a mild antiseptic solution.
