Choose one concept in our lesson today, give a brief explanation about the concept and cite how this learning can be applied in your daily life.

One concept in our lesson today that may be a little underrated but got my attention was one of the functions of the integumentary system which is excretion via perspiration. Although this function is not as important as how kidneys help in excretion, I think that it is still vital. The skin contributes through excretion by releasing sweat through sweat glands present in the body. The sweat evaporates and helps to keep the body cool when it is warm outside. The skin then assists in the process of excretion through sweating by eliminating water, salts and urea. Although this may be not measurable, surely we do notice or feel conscious whenever we perspire. This varies depending on factors such as environmental temperature, body temperature, and metabolic activity.

We can apply this learning technically in our daily lives as it is in our nature to sweat. One good daily routine to apply this is by exercising for at least 30 minutes. According to studies, sweating is healthy as it could have a number of benefits such as circulation increases throughout our organs, muscles, and tissue and the pores on our skin open up and allow for a protective barrier to form against pathogens, reducing bacteria on the skin.
