The lesson that I liked to learn the most were the functions of the skin. To name a few, the skin contributes to thermoregulation, acts as a blood reservoir, protects the body, acts as a tool for cutaneous sensations, assists in excretion and absorption, and synthesizes vitamin D. For all these reasons, I learned to value my skin even more. It’s a very important part of us that we literally cannot live without. Everyday, it is subjected to different conditions that could harm it. So, as long as we know why the skin is important, we can actively take care of it properly. This could be through basic hygiene, skin care, and check-ups whenever necessary. We can take better care of it for as long as we know why we need to do so. With that, this lesson has taught me in detail how I can appreciate my skin more.
