A concept that I learned today that I find really interesting is the existence of different joints in our body. As our body is composed of bones of different sizes, shapes, lengths, and compositions, different joints in our body are present in order for us to function properly. The synovial joints I have grasped are: the ball-and-socket joint, hinge joint, pivot joint, saddle joint, condyloid joint, and plane joint. These joints are found in the different parts of our body, for example, the ball-and-socket joint is present in our shoulder joint, while the hinge joint is in the joints of our elbow. Learning about these joints and their nature would be applicable on a day-to-day basis especially in working and performing physical activities. With this, we can know the extent and limitations of certain joints of our body, avoid overusing the joints, and maximize the capabilities of our joints for more efficient activity. In this way, we can help protect our joints, bones, and muscles, and avoid injuries.
