Give other examples of disturbances in the internal environment that can act as a stimulus to a feedback mechanism.

  1. When your body temperature increases above the normal state or when you experience a fever, the brain orders different organs including the skin to release heat in the form of sweat to cool down your body. Sweating means that your temperature is decreasing back to its normal temperature.

  2. When blood flows from a cut, the body’s response is to create clots which prevent the loss of blood through a positive feedback mechanism. The broken blood vessel wall will start releasing substances which will start the clotting process. Platelets in the blood will begin to stick to the wounded area which produce substances that will attract platelets. As the platelets continue to be released, platelet plug will form which leads to the development of a clot.
