“Good Nutrition is a foundation of a child’s survival, health, and development”. What are you insights on this quote?

Good nutrition especially during the early development stages of children from infancy to adolescence is very important to support the developmental needs. With inadequate nutrition, the child may experience even severe malnutrition that may result to mortality. For the health part, a baby could be unhealthy if inappropriate foods were being fed. Other mothers tend to provide other food on the first 6 months of the baby, which is not recommended because breast milk contains other nutritional values not present in food and formula milk. With this, some other important nutritional values important for development are not met. With this, proper education should be given to mothers during their visits and after delivery. As nurses it is our duty to make sure that they are well informed about these factors affected by inadequate nutrition. For mothers who are not aware of lifestyle that could improve their milk production should taught. With this, even if the family is experiencing poverty, they can provide the required nutrition for the first 6 months of the baby. During visits, it is important to teach alternatives and complementary feeding that can be done by the parents.
