"Competencies are critical for equipping students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they will need to successfully navigate their personal journeys inn learning, living and working."

Analyzing the competencies that will be targeted in a curriculum:1) Helps the teacher in selecting the appropriate instructional design to be used when delivering the lectures in the curriculum; 2) Guides the teacher in which competencies to focus on when giving the lecture; 3) Informs the students on which competencies they will gain upon undergoing the curriculum. Analyzing the competencies also organizes the KSA (knowledge, skills and attitudes) of each task per responsibility and role of the teacher.

Analysis of stakeholders is important because:

1) It can identify the interests of all stakeholders who may affect or be affected by the curriculum; 2) identify potential encounters or risks that could risk the curriculum and provide solutions for them; 3) identify opportunities and relationships that can be built with stakeholders during the implementation process; 4) identify people that should be engaged more to participate in different stages of the curriculum; and 5) identify specific strategies and approaches to engage the stakeholder.

Having a clear outline of all possible stakeholders and how to engage them can help in the successful implementation of the curriculum.

I agree with you Bien! If the competencies are clearly laid out for the Curriculum, the students and teachers are given a better and more meaningful direction in learning. By also establishing the competencies, as teachers we ensure that our students will be able to take away something from the learning materials, different activities and lessons that we will teach. Enhancing the graduates of our institution.

I also agree with your take on the Stakeholders. Identifying the Stakeholders properly and how they affect the curriculum can absolutely improve the curriculum. This can also help the institution move forward with its different courses offered. Ensuring the quality of the services offered.

I do agree with Bien on his perspectives. Generally, I see these steps of competency analysis as grounding and rooting back to why we teach our students in the formative and rigid sense: to become competent health professionals. Although one may argue that such emphasis on competencies appeals more to the essentialists rather than progressivists or more so, social reconstructionists (which I subscribe). But come to think of it, to solve problems of the society, we need to have competent professionals who knows what to do... Going back to the point... Competency Analysis lays out the knowledge, skills, and attitudes the students must have after undergoing instruction in order to be competent.

As for stakeholder analysis, it provides a realistic approach to build or rebuild a curriculum relevant with the times by taking into account what is actually needed by the society through inputs from people outside the school. Perhaps one could see this type of analysis as a more participatory approach where the curriculum planner involves more people for a more holistic curriculum.

Yes Bien. I agree with you that analysis of the competencies is very important in instructional design. In addition to that, at the curricular level, the analysis of competencies will help establish the competency profile which will be the basis of the identification of tasks as well as the outcomes that you would want your learners to achieve. On the primary/internal stakeholders, I agree that it will be of big help if we can engaged them in curricular development. On the external stakeholders (government, regulating bodies, industries), the curriculum planners may have to adjust to their requirements. Thank you:)

Definitely agree that competency analysis provides guidance for the KSAs targeted to be achieved by the implementation of educational programs. It will be vital in supporting the program outcomes, the vision and mission of learning institutions, and give also give direction to the learning approaches of educators towards its students.

I also agree with the discussion points about doing stakeholder analysis. It will help provide the current state of learning, identify the needs and interests of society, and help provide direction to developing curriculums by complementing the analysis of competencies.
