Reciprocal Engagement Model of Genetic Counseling
In much of the history of genetic counseling, we have relied on other theories and models of other fields to guide the practice of genetic counseling. For example, much of the contemporary practice of genetic counseling has been influenced by Carl Roger's client-centered counseling. The Reciprocal Engagement Model is a proposed model to capture the essence and tenets of practice of genetic counselors and clarifies the goals, strategies, and behaviors.
