Session 22 Guide

View

This is the culminating lesson for biochemistry. Congratulations! You have gone this far. For this session, we will look into the general mechanisms by which amino acids and nitrogenous bases are synthesized. Further, we will try to connect how each of the pathways relate to each other through integration especially in certain bodily conditions like starvation. Through this session, you should be able to:Β

    • summarize the precursors and pathways leading to the synthesis of amino acids and nucleotides
    • correlate the various metabolic pathways

The following are your tasks for this session:Β

  1. Go through the Nitrogen Anabolism and Integration lessons. There are NO embedded questions for these lessons.
  2. Individually, answer the practice questions on Fat and Protein Metabolism for a refresher.
  3. As a group, answer a brief problem set on anabolism and integration.
