Lab 3 Platyhelminthes Activity

This activity gives the students the opportunity to learn and explore the Phylum Platyhelminthes. The Platyhelminthes or flatworms are dorso-ventrally flattened organisms. They are referred as acoelomates since these are animals that do not have coelom (body cavity). This group of organisms is important as they include the free-living planarians, and the parasitic tapeworms and flukes.

Please open your parasitology lab manual and work on activities on the Phylum Platyhelminthes (cestodes and trematodes). Open the virtual laboratory for the parasitology slides that you will use for this activity.  Make detailed sketches of the parasites to familiarise yourself with the salient morphological structures that will allow you in identifying the parasites.
