I know a handful of colleagues who have succumbed to predatory journals or conferences. I take some time to mention this to them and explain why the journal or conference they intended to participate in might be considered predatory. Such learning opportunies have allowed multiple parties to learn together the academic ropes of avoiding predatory journals and conferences.
