My name is Melee, a 3rd-year nursing student. My expectations for N110 includes learning practical and evidence-based nursing interventions when it comes to disasters in the Philippines, wherein both natural and man-made are common and causes devastation to life and property. I am looking forward to enhancing my skills in team-based emergency response, which is critical in disaster situations, such as floods, especially now that the southwest monsoon is upon us. As for my personal goals, I hope to beocme more confident in responding to emergency situations, especially for caring for vulnerable populations such as the homeless people who are running rampant in urbanized areas. I also aim to build my competence in disaster triage, mental health first aid, and risk communication. Although I hope that the opportunity doesn't present itself, my goal would be to be able to respond and provide voluntary service in disasters that may arise.
