Hi! My name is Thea Somatiza, but you can just call me Thea—that's the only name I go by haha.
My expectations for this course are to gain a solid and comprehensive understanding of the role of nurses during disasters. I want to learn not only how we can respond effectively in emergencies, but also how we, as future healthcare professionals, can contribute to disaster preparedness and help minimize risks and injuries in our communities.
Additionally, I'm eager to explore how disaster management is handled in the Philippine context—specifically, how communities respond before, during, and after disasters, with a focus on the role of nursing.
Personally, my goal is to become well-informed and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to respond in times of crisis. I hope this course will prepare me to better serve others during challenging situations like disasters.
