Reality bites, but it is how it is particularly on your stated view of the disadvantages of the clinical area in student learning. I agree that safety for both parties (patient and student) should be considered at all times. There are case when students are exposed in private hospitals, patients safety is prioritized, whereas in public-government hospitals, students safety is given priority. The mismatch also in the curriculum where the faculty delivering the lecture should be the ones following up the students in the clinical area is always the plan but not put into action due to manpower limitations. The overcrowding of students also in the clinical area places both the patients and the students at a disadvantage. If our our respective institutions as well as nursing leaders can help address these disadvantages immediately, then we can say we are preparing our nursing students adequately in their professional roles as future nurses of the country.
