What motivated me to take Maternal and Child Nursing (MCN)as a field of specialization was the profound impact, I experienced during my clinical rotation in the delivery room. Witnessing the beginning of life and supporting mothers through one of the most vulnerable yet empowering moments of their lives was both humbling and inspiring. I saw how nurses played a vital role, not just in physical care, but in emotional support and education. It made me realize that MCN is not just about childbirth; it's about advocacy, compassion, and shaping the health of future generations.

To encourage my students to consider this field, I emphasize the holistic and meaningful nature of MCN, where nurses are given the opportunity to care for both mother and child, promote family health, and practice across a wide continuum, from prenatal to postnatal care. I share real clinical stories that highlight the value of our role and expose them to how rewarding this specialty can be, not just professionally but also personally.
