Personal Experience on Predatory Journals and Conferences

I have received several emailed invitations to publish in scientific journals or books, or to attend  conferences related to my specialty or other specialties in other countries. This all began after I published my first article in an Open-access and legitimate scientific journal. At first, I thought these were legitimate invitations to publish but I later detected a pattern of the invitations which pointed to predatory journals.  I have since marked these emails as spam.  My junior co-authors sometimes ask me about these predatory journal invitations and I swiftly warn them not to entertain any of these emails.

Regarding predatory conferences, I still see a lot of them advertised online. One of my residents must have registered for a predatory conference in Dubai one time, because the conference suddenly got cancelled just before the event date.
