The results of the self-assessment is Information Processing. As described by the tool, the theorist focus is on how the mind of the individual works. The theory proposes the use of symbols to encode, process, remember and retrieve information. In my early years as an instructor / lecturer in the University, I was very fond of converting lectures to illustrations in acetate films during the time when over head projectors were commonly used. I used drawings (by myself), concepts maps, flow diagrams in order to explain theoretical concepts in a visual/concise form and also to simplify complex/overarching topics. Students were allowed to “photocopy” the films and used them as their study aids. In the clinical area (OB Ward Rotations), I brought with me printed diagrams of anatomical parts among others in order help me explain topics related to OB. This strategy was and up to now is very helpful as it stimulates individual minds to process visual images of the topics, store in the brain and deposit in the wide space of memory and then finally be used sometime in the future. This philosophy as it strongly suggests enabled me, up to this very date in assisting and reinforcing students in processing data of various shape and forms, from an array of sources and use these information for various purposes (patient communication, case analysis, etc.).
