This was a personal experience. During fellowship, one of the requirements for graduation was to submit a completed original research paper. During data analysis, a few of the data collected turned out to be erroneous. Removing the data will affect the power of the study while retaining the data will invalidate the results. After discussing these issues with the statistician and my research adviser, we decided to re-collect the data even if it entailed extra costing and requesting extensions from EHRO. Moving forward, the paper has been published and is being cited and used to pursue other researches in the field.
