I have choosen MCN as a field of specialization because it is my weakest area, my waterloo in College. I decided to take MCN during my UPOU-MAN days because I believe that the course of study can help me build my confidence it the subject, after all I am a woman, and a mother of two children. My love for MCN grew as I can connect with the experiences of women in child-bearing and child-rearing years, now I am a women with gynecologic problems. What a better way to teach students is to share my experience.
I can encourage students to consider this field of specialization because of its practical application in their family, not necessarily as a mother but as a sister or a brother of young children. Soon they will have their own family too! There is no book that would teach you how to be a parent, but here is a specialization in Nursing that would equip you on how to take care of mother and children. Above all, I want my students to understand the need to promote the advocacy on the health and well-being of women and children because most often, they are the least group to be given attention to in time of crisis and war. The pandemic crisis has taught us this lesson, the experience should make us better in caring for women and children.
