Preferred Site: Vastus Lateralis

 

Origin: Greater trochanter and lateral lip of the linea aspera of the femur

 

Insertion: Tibial tuberosity via the patellar ligament

 

Action: Extension of the knee

 

Location: Anterolateral aspect of the thigh; midway between the greater trochanter and the lateral femoral condyle

Preferred Site: Deltoid 

 

Origin: Lateral third of the clavicle, acromion, and spine of the scapula

 

Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of the humerus

 

Action: Abduction of the arm; Flexion of anterior fibers and medial rotation of the arm, while posterior fibers extend and laterally rotate the arm
