I am Jonna Mae D. Octaviano, but I prefer to be called by my nickname Jay. I graduated batch 2022 from Chinese General Hospital Colleges and passed the board exam the same year. Currently, I have been working as a full-time staff nurse in the Emergency Room Department of the same institution for 1 year and 8 months already. In the ER we treat different patients every day as the specialties are divided into four which are: Surgery, Medicine, OB, and Pediatrics.  From there I was exposed to different cases which in return honed my skills specialized for emergent and resuscitative care. Furthermore, I am also working as a part-time Clinical Instructor in the ER and Neonatal Services Unit to fourth-year and second-year students respectively.

As a current Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate, I am eager to further my education and pursue a Master's degree in Adult Health Nursing in UP Manila because it’s an institution known for its strong nationalism and excellence in serving the community. My passion for nursing developed early on, as I witnessed the important impact that nurses have on patient outcomes and satisfaction. My experience of working in the ER has solidified my desire to specialize in adult health nursing as I realized that the population continues to age and the need for highly skilled nurses who can effectively manage and treat complex health issues in adults will only continue to grow. Pursuing this specialty is a great opportunity to provide comprehensive care to adults with chronic health conditions and will enable me to deepen my knowledge and skills in managing complex health issues.

Furthermore, I am drawn to the research opportunities that come with pursuing graduate studies in Adult Health Nursing. I am excited about the prospect of contributing to the body of knowledge in this field through conducting research and implementing evidence-based practices in my clinical practice. By staying engaged in research and keeping abreast of the latest advancements in adult health care, I will be able to deliver improved patient outcomes and quality of life. Ultimately, my goal is to become a leader in Adult Health Nursing and make a positive impact on health promotion and disease prevention strategies specifically tailored to adult patients as I believe that pursuing graduate studies will not only benefit my professional development but will also have a positive impact on the healthcare system as a whole.
