1. How does the food change in consistency and form?

Alimentary canal is where the process in changing food consistency happens, specifically the oral cavity, transport passages, and gastrointestinal tract. Mastication and salivary amylase start the process of digestion in the mouth, generating a bolus that is then broken down further physically and chemically in the stomach to produce chyme. Major chemical digestion is facilitated by the small intestine, especially the duodenum, which also uses the motions of its microvilli to absorb vitamins, minerals, and tiny molecules. This complete process converts food into easily absorbed nutrients through a combination of chemical and mechanical processes.

2. How could the body absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat?

The process through which food is broken down so that the body can absorb it is called digestion. The primary organ, the small intestine, and the circulatory system gather nutrients and transfer them to other parts of your body for storage or use. Certain cells help nutrients get through the gut lining and into the bloodstream.
