The Facial (VII) nerves are involved as they regulate taste (thus, loss of taste is attributed), and send motor impulses for the secretion of saliva (attributed to dry mouth), and contracts the facial muscles (unable to close eye). Glossopharyngeal (IX) nerves may also be involved as they relay sensory and motor impulses related to taste, swallowing, and salivation.
