1. Your patient recently had a viral infection and now she cannot move the muscles on the right side of her face. In addition, she is experiencing a loss of taste and dry mouth and she cannot close her right eye. Which cranial nerves have been affected by the viral infection?

  • Inability to move the muscles on the right side of the face: Facial (Cranial Nerve VII)
  • Loss of taste: Facial (Cranial Nerve VII), Glossopharyngeal (Cranial Nerve IX), and Vagus (Cranial Nerve X)
  • Dry mouth: Facial (Cranial Nerve VII) and Glossopharyngeal (Cranial Nerve IX)
  • Inability to close the right eye: Oculomotor (Cranial Nerve III) and Facial (Cranial Nerve VII)
