Muscles: Biceps and Triceps Brachii
Actions: Allows the arm to contract in order to exert force in throwing the ball (Flexes forearm at elbow joint; Extends forearm at elbow joint and extends arm at shoulder joint.)
Innervations: Radial Nerve; Musculocutaneous nerve
- Kicking a ball
Muscle: Tibialis anterior and Soleus
Action: Dorsiflexes foot at ankle joint and inverts (supinates) foot at intertarsal joints; Plantar flexes foot at ankle joint
Innervation: Deep fibular (peroneal) nerve; Tibial nerve
- Doing sit-ups
Muscle: Rectus abdominis and External oblique
Action: Flexes vertebral column, especially lumbar portion; compress abdomen and flex vertebral column
Innervation: Thoracic spinal nerves T7–T12 and the iliohypogastric nerve.
- Breathing
Muscle: Diaphragm and Pectoralis Major
Action: The chest cavity increases in terms of space as it expands; aids in the expansion of the other connected rib muscles when breathing
Innervation: Phrenic nerve; Medial and lateral pectoral nerves
